Mission
To assist Swain County residents in obtaining permanent, safe, and stable housing through our emergency and transitional shelter.
Vision
Every Swain County resident will have permanent, safe, and stable housing.
Values
Compassion, comfort, and consistency.
“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you.” Leviticus 25:35
Program
Our emergency and transitional shelter program will host seven individuals in a home-like environment. At night they will be safe from external circumstances. Residents will be fed dinner and breakfast during their shelter stay. During the day, they will have access to our resource day center where they will meet with our case manager and have access to transportation to a variety of resources. Our goal is to target social determinants of health to first address the overall well-being of our clients before we assist them in any large life changes. The shelter will provide a stable environment for our clients to be able to grow. Developing themselves physically, mentally, economically, and spiritually is core to our mission and is possible with access to safe housing.
